The Wall That Heals is a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. that travels to communities all across the U.S. A better description from the website:
“The traveling exhibit, known as The Wall That Heals, allows the many thousands of veterans who have been unable to cope with the prospect of “facing The Wall” to find the strength and courage to do so within their own communities, thus allowing the healing process to begin.”
In this, its 10th year anniversary, TWTH made a stop in my neighborhood, literally a block away. My wife and I visited last night and took a few pictures. Click here to visit the gallery. People of all ages were visiting, from kids to the elderly. As we were viewing the wall, I overheard this conversation between a mother and her son:
Son: It’s small.
Mom: What is?
Son: This wall.
Mom: That’s a good thing. Why would you want it to be bigger? That would mean more soldiers had died.
Tomorrow, November 11th, is Veterans Day. If you live in the Cincinnati area, come over to Norwood and visit the exhibit yourself. If you don’t, take a moment to remember those we have lost, the living veterans from previous wars, and our current military serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other parts of the world, all of whom deserve our respect and adulation.

“Our software takes a large collection of photos of a place or an object, analyzes them for similarities, and then displays the photos in a reconstructed three-dimensional space, showing you how each one relates to the next.”
This is very, very cool. Can’t wait ’til I can use my own photos with this. If you meet the system requirements, try it out. It is definitely worth exploring all the features (multiple viewing angles, zooming in 3d space, fly over, view sharing, etc.).
